My co-host Dave and I are doing our first spin-off show. A commentary and review show of various cartoon series that will be posted on youtube with an audio version on itunes. We don’t have a title for it yet, but we’re doing a test run tonight to make sure everything is good with the video. We are also contemplating doing it as a live stream sometime later.
We’re starting with G1 Transformers season three. We will do a one off show that is just a review of Transformers the Movie and Five Faces of Darkness, the first regular episode will start with The Killing Jar. For Transformers we will be going by production order as opposed to episode number. Once we are done with season three we’ll work our way back to season one but will be adding different shows into the mix and jumping around from series to series. Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends, Dungeons & Dragons, Super Friends, He-Man, GI Joe, Visionaries, Thundarr and many more if we can find them streaming or elsewhere.
I’m really hoping to get to all of the Marvel animation from the 60’s through the 80’s. The full run of Super Friends, Justice League Unlimited and Batman Brave and the Bold and even add some anime to mix.
The debate continues between friends, co-workers and I regarding Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman. Maybe the problem isn’t entirely with the baggage and hang-ups that each individual puts on these characters and the actors/actresses cast to play them. Maybe part of the problem also lies with the characters themselves and how they’re depicted and portrayed even as fictional characters. Today’s Wonder Woman is not the same Wonder Woman as when Lynda Carter was cast for the television series. Would a young Lynda Carter be getting grilled if she were cast for today’s Wonder Woman?
I understand it can be fun in specualting on different people playing what roles. I understand wanting characters to be portrayed and cast as close to the source material as possible. All of us would like it but with some of these characters, are a real world standard even possible? I understand having some doubts and concerns based an actress/actor’s body of work or lack of. What I don’t have is being able to understand some of of the criticism Gal is getting for this before the movie isn’t even out yet. I shouldn’t be surprised though because it’s unfortunaltely what fandom has become. I just wish we could get back to being fans celebrating that we get these movies in the first place.
Have to roll a druid now. Dammit.

Home alone. I have no idea when the last time I had the house to myself. Spending it with with large stack of vinyl albums that I’ve had for months that haven’t been played yet. The cats and dog are chilling out with me as Three Dog Night fills the house in glorious analog sound.
Japan is getting a new DBZ movie next year based on one of Toriyama’s unused story ideas.
